Email inbox is not a todo-list!

Posted by Paolo Thu, 13 Sep 2007 03:16:00 GMT

Well, not a great post today but I wanted to report a great video I discovered trough www.presentationzen.com. I hearthly share its content so… go on!

I have a bad relationship with emails. It’s not that I don’t like them but I think that checking the inbox too often is a compulsive action, not a necessity. I hate those email clients which notify me when a new mail arrives. It’s distracting… it’s totally unproductive… I mean, the power of emails is that you can receive them when you’re offline or busy and you can read them when you want to. I said WHEN YOU WANT TO. Whenever I find myself hitting F5 on Gmail I feel like a dog waiting for a cookie. And even when people are not compulsively checking their inboxes… they’re probably scanning their past messages in order to organize their days. Scanning messages over and over again. Not a good practice if you want to get things done.

Are email clients becoming our new to-do managers? Should we spend so much time on our email inbox? Should our lives be email driven?

On this subject Merlin Mann gave us a great presentation inlined here:

Hope you like it as much as I do. Enjoy!

Google Cheat Sheet

Google Cheat Sheet

Sometimes it’s amazing how a tool you’re using everyday can hide features you have never thought of. Reading the Official Google Blog I came across this nice cheat sheet. Check it out, you could discover interesting things (es try to search motorbike books on Amazon between $20 and $30).

What do bloggers say about you pages?

Posted by Paolo Sat, 23 Sep 2006 21:43:00 GMT

I should check the Google Labs page more often. Sometimes I get the feeling of missing something from that great company so I just subscribed to their feed.

What I discovered today while surfing the lab is a great Google Firefox Plugin: Blogger Web Comments.

It lets you see what bloggers are saying about the page you’re surfing. It’s cool when you want to see opinions about something new (at least for you) or if you wanna see comments related to your own pages.

This is what I’m seeing for our SeeSaw Homepage after enabling the plugin inside my Fox:

You can download the plugin here. Good (opinionated) surfing!

Google Earth goes linux

Posted by Michele Tue, 13 Jun 2006 16:27:00 GMT

Amazing! Google has released version 4 of his famous 3D view application: many improvements on UI, textured buildings, better internationalization and a native linux version available for download. Yes, it’s still in beta state, but who’s not?

Italy added to Google Maps

Posted by Paolo Thu, 27 Apr 2006 19:45:00 GMT

It seems google maps has finally added Italy to the list of covered countries. I suggest you to take a tour around Venice or look at my place (obviously less interesting).

Just to give you a sample I can show you how I get to Michele’s house or how I get to Jacopo’s house

just a note: this is my first post posted with Flock.
